Playa del Carmen
All beaches in Mexico are public property. There are many fancy beach clubs where the tourist can to rent out lounge chairs and umbrellas, also numerous access points to the beach all along the coast but actually the beach is for everyone.
Also the beach recovery project in Playa del Carmen started in January, 2010 has been successfully completed and the beach is now wide than ever, with fantastic sand quality.

In Playa del Carmen the tourist can do a great variety of activities: just lay on the beach and enjoy the crystalline waters, realize aquatic activities like snorkeling, diving, boat trips, wind surfing, fishing, parasailing, and swimming with dolphins and more. Also visiting the ancient cities of Cobá, Chichen-Itza and Tulum where feeling the unique and mysterious Mayan culture by the living ones who descend from this amazing people. Least but not last the fascinating “cenotes”, underground or open caves with freshwater. The cenotes were considered sacred by the Maya and played an important role in their rites. Believing that these pools were gateways to the afterlife, the Maya sometimes threw valuable items into them.

Playa hosts all the year international events as the most famous Jazz Festival every November, the trendy and most famous live DJs, and traditional gastronomic feasts.

The heart of Playa is the Fifth Avenue (Quinta Avenida); running parallel to the beach, fifth avenue is a colorfully tiled pedestrian walkway full of shops, restaurants for every mood where you can taste dishes from all over the world: Mayan food, Mexican food, Italian food, Chinese food, Thai Food, Argentinean steaks, Lebanese food etc…. café and bar where people enjoy a frozen margarita during the famous “happy hour” in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Playa provides that rare combination of simplicity of a beach town, a blend of tradition and innovation, surrounded by the nature of a Caribbean paradise.

And all make every tourist as he find “a home away from home”.
area info
Once upon a time, Playa del Carmen was a fishing village and the only foreigners who stopped by were those catching ferries to Cozumel.

Even since Playa Del Carmen (or as we say just “Playa”) has become one of Latin America's fastest-growing communities, with a population made mostly by home-born, Americans and Italian, Canadian, British, German, Dutch, Argentinean, Swedish, French and probably ten other nationalities, that’s creating an amazing cosmopolitan community. Although Playa is not a fishing village anymore, have still her alabaster-white sand beach and turquoise-blue waters and his peaceful charming that make any tourist comfortable and confident.
